We are a church that is “ON THE MOVE” for the cause of Christ. We are a family oriented church. We love our community and deeply care about the well-being of all people. We believe in the Great Commission of Jesus Christ according Matthew 28:19-20. Jesus commanded his disciples to therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you. And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” ZION UNITY MISSIONARY BAPTIST CHURCH 3855-3859 East 10th Street Indianapolis, IN 46201 The genesis of Zion Unity Missionary Baptist Church began in 1972 under the pastorage of Dr. Roy W. Beverly, who merged two churches, Zion Missionary Baptist Church and Unity Church. At that time, the church was located at 19th and College Avenue. During 1980 the church moved to 21st and Capitol Avenue and purchased a building, rent to buy at 901 E. 30th Street. Because Dr. Beverly had a deep concern for young Pastors, he began an alliance and Baptist Foresight Night Alliance was begun. This Alliance is still active and growing strong. On January 6, 1984, The Zion Unity Family called Rev. Fredrick W. Boyd, Jr. to be the associate Pastor, a position in which I was honored to serve. During February 1984, Dr. Beverly died. II Corinthians 5:8, “to be absent from the body, and present with the Lord.” A new chapter began in Zion Unity when Fredrick W. Boyd, Jr. was called to be the Pastor of Zion Unity Missionary Baptist Church. Within nine months, after Rev. Fredrick Boyd, Jr. became Pastor, the church paid off its first mortgage of $7,000 on December 2, 1984, during a very moving service, at which time we were told, you can “SHOUT NOW,” which we did. Joshua 6:20. During the 1990’s Zion Unity began serving at the Indiana Women’s Prison and in 2005, we began serving the community through an outreach ministry, Good News homeless shelter and are continuing to do so to this day. The church has expanded its services and is presently supporting 24 missionaries throughout the world. Also, every year from May – October each Tuesday evening members of the church make door to door contact evangelizing the community. In 2005, during a Conference at Bible Baptist Church in Salt Lake City, Utah, Pastor Boyd was called to start the Creation Evidence Expo ministry, which is now international, teaching the truth of creation as stated in Genesis 1:1: “In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.” Evolution is not true and never has been. After 13 years of teaching Creation wherever we can, we are now seeing substantial changes being made. By the grace of God, and the Word of God (which is truth), our goal is to bury evolution. The present chapter of Zion Unity’s Forty-Six-year history, was celebrated July 29, 2019, during the Mortgage Burning celebration of the property located at 3855-3859 East 10th Street. In 2004, with the help of Mr. Richard Young, Realtor of Wolson and Young Corporation, we purchased this property, 3855-3859 East 10th Street. We have experienced many ups and downs as we tried to make our payments, especially during 2008 when the stock market crashed. The Lord led us out of that slow period when we could not make payments on time to a record 14 years when we paid off the bank on May 15, 2014. On Sunday, July 29, 2018, we celebrated two Mortgage Buring services. One at 10:00 a.m. at Zion Unity and the second at 4:00 p.m. at Oasis of Hope Baptist Church, where my Pastor, Dr. John Minion, Sr. delivered a great message using our theme for Celebration Day: Psalm 126:3. The mortgage is now history. Zion Unity Baptist Church will focus on making our nation great again by sharing the glorious Gospel of Jesus Christ. Thanks to Mr. Mark Warner, District Liaison for my friend, U.S. Representative Todd Rokita, for being a part of our celebration Service. I always end with my expression of hope for our nation by saying loud and clear with utmost confidence ‘THE BEST IS YET TO COME.” Praise God! Amen Pastor Fredrick W. Boyd, Jr. Zion Unity Missionary Baptist Church 3855-3859 East 10th Street Indianapolis, IN 46201 If in Indianapolis, please come and visit with us. Thank you.
